On the first blog of this series, we talked about some of the most important safety tips before handling a firearm, such as keeping your firearm pointed in a safe direction at all times and important rules of safe gun handling. Today we conclude the series with more firearm handling safety information that you need to exercise if you are a gun enthusiast:

Be Sure of Your Target & What’s Lies Beyond

When handling firearms one thing is for sure, once a gun fires you have given up all control over where the shot will go or what it will strike, this is why you need to be 100% certain where your shot is intended to strike.

Use The Right Ammunition

Using improper or incorrect ammunition can destroy a gun and cause serious personal injury. Always be sure that the ammunition you are using matches the specifications of your firearm. Ammunition that has gotten wet or has been submerged in water should always be discarded.

If Your Gun Fails To Fire, Handle With Care

Sometimes when you shoot a gun a cartridge may not fire. If that’s the case, always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, remember that anytime there is a cartridge in the chamber, your gun is loaded. Carefully open the action, unload the firearm and dispose of the cartridge in a safe way.
